The number of deaths due to opioid poisoning (overdose) in Lackawanna County continues to climb, bringing even more urgency to the work of groups like the LRC.

In 2018, there were 98 deaths due to opioid poisoning in Lackawanna County. In 2017, there were 88 and in 2016, there were 84. That was 15 more than 2015 and 49 more than 2014.

Each year, the Technical Assistance Center at the University of Pittsburgh compiles a comprehensive report, including detailed data for each of the 67 counties in Pennsylvania.
